Five people lost their lives in a tragic accident on the Gilgil-Naivasha road. According to the police, the accident occurred at 7:30 PM in the Kigio area, leaving 19 others injured. The deceased included two men, a woman, a boy, and a girl.
A police report accessed by Citizen Digital indicated that the incident involved three matatus from Narok Line Services, Mau Narok Sacco, and Ennus Matatu Sacco. Police stated that one of the vehicles was towing another from Naivasha towards Gilgil at the time of the accident.
“The oncoming matatu overtook a fleet of vehicles and failed to return to its lane in time,” police reported. The driver subsequently lost control, causing the vehicle to roll several times.
The injured victims are currently receiving treatment at Naivasha Sub County Hospital, while the bodies of the deceased have been transported to Gilgil Sub County Hospital mortuary.
