In anticipation of the youth-led protests scheduled for Thursday, a multi-agency security team comprising various police units has been deployed across Nairobi. The demonstrators, determined to stage a bold march to State House as the culmination of a week-long protest, aim to express their discontent with President William Ruto’s administration.

Following the violent rallies on Tuesday, where protesters stormed Parliament in opposition to the Finance Bill 2024, security forces are resolute in preventing any breaches towards State House. All roads leading to and around the vicinity of State House have been sealed off, with motorists being redirected to alternative routes.

Heavily armed officers have been strategically positioned near State House, and access to any of its entrances has been strictly prohibited. Additionally, military security equipment has been deployed to fortify the roads surrounding the area.

Although President Ruto has conceded and agreed to withdraw the contentious Finance Bill, the protesters remain steadfast in their decision to continue the rallies, signaling a lack of confidence in the Kenya Kwanza government. The protesters’ plan to march to State House has sparked mixed reactions, with some voicing concerns about potential loss of life and urging the youth to reconsider the act, which has been labeled as treasonous by some quarters.
